Changes to module destruction#1048

When you destroy a module, any module, it makes a hole in the wall. That makes raiding ships easy, perhaps too easy… Currently, to raid a ship, you basically have to destroy a single module, and you’ve won. Get inside and blow everything up.

I suggest that modules, when destroyed, don’t make a hole in the hull ; perhaps an opening like a window to shoot inside, but not big enough to go through.
The only modules that would make a hole would be door and window modules, as well as simple walls with no modules installed. That would also make interior organisation more interesting, as you can “decide” where enemies will enter your ship from ! Putting walls, doors and floors inside your ship would gain an actual defensive value. And the more door modules you have, the easier to enter your ship it is, both for you and enemies.
Getting inside a ship would become harder if you want to loot it and/or destroy it easily, or if you just want to destroy it, since it’s harder to get inside and benefit from the module critical damage on the interior, but it would still be possible to just destroy a ship without entering it at all.

Also, it would be good to have an armor module (#1047) that doesn’t do much but doesn’t make a hole when destroyed, so that you don’t have to fill every inch of your ship with modules in fear of leaving simple walls around. These would be a good and simple solution to empty space.

I don’t know if everyone understood all the stakes of this post, but remember that when PvP will be a thing, other people will be able to raid your ship too. I wouldn’t want it to be so easy for them.
And COGs might get some AI that tells them how to get inside a ship too.

Once PVP kicks in, everything gets balanced out much more. At this point it is kept this way cause for new players it is already quite hard to get into ships, and making it even harder would make it impossible for them. There are still a lot of things that need to be tested and figured during early PVP playtesting.

I don’t see this being much problem as of now
Howeve with PvP coming, this is a pretty good suggestion :+1:
