How gunner seats should work on enemy ships#938

I was skeptical when the gunner seat was announced, but now that we have it, I quite like it. It’s some good fun, and might prove useful in the future when more offensive modules are added. I have to say I was very surprised at how well it was implemented : everything had been thought of. But I find it odd that we don’t find any on COG ships. Now, you could say that it’s because they don’t need to control their turrets, they’re all bots, but they don’t need to have pilot seats or hubs either then. It’s most likely just that the devs didn’t place any lol.

Anyways, how would it work ? Would you simply be unable to click on it, you’d get a “your crew does not own this drillship” message ? I think that’d be boring, when there’s a cool thing to be done here.
When playing in multiplayer, if a player is controlling a turret, and then another player hops on another gunner seat and goes to this turret, they will see what the turret does, but they can’t do anything, and there’s a “Turret controlled by [PLAYER]” message. I think that’s how it should work on enemy ships : you can use the gunner seats, but only to see through the turrets’ camera. You can’t control them, you’d have a “can’t control enemy turret” message, but you could still see what’s happening.
I think that’d be pretty cool, even more so because that would mean you can look outside without getting shot from everywhere.

Second paragraph’s idea sounds cool.

And about why cog’s don’t have no gunner seats and hubs, maybe they can directly comunicate with the drill or maybe plyg themselves into the free mounting points on walls. If you look at those, they look kiiiinda like a socket, right?
