So, we all know that volcanoids run very slow even on the most powerful PCs
After some inspection on the game, (with the help of Alex) we found that all the caves are rendered at once, which would likely take up most of our FPS
So? We unload them when there are no 1: player drill ships, and 2:players are the area, saving a lot more resources
I thought there was a form of chunk loading.. I feel like I can travel far enough away and trigger resource respawns. There definetly needs to be some optimisation with loading chunks/zones and what’s in memory. I just found out they intentionally remove lower tier enemies with an event to improve performance.. Huge mistake IMO, the world is dead in lower tiers.. If this is due to performance, they must rework these systems from the ground up IMO.
Deffinetly still have a lot of optimization to be done, ill bring this up to the team to see if you are onto something.
