A late-game module which would take up three spaces, and can only be placed on the ceiling. When deployed, it would allow you to choose how much damage you want it to absorb. The more the absorption, the less damage your Drillship will take, however the more power it’s going to use.
This is a very interesting idea. Seems kinda balanced even :)
@Russotravis So even if somebody would be hitting the side modules, the ceiling module would absorb that?
@Rich It would protect on the sides too, pretty much either the whole drillship, or only the section it’s built on. If you choose to have it shield all modules and the front, it would take more power than shielding the module it’s on, and if you want it to be more efficient on power to protect the whole drillship, you have to build smaller modules, other than the main shielding module, called shield amplifiers on any of the sections.
why it comes to mind the words “tesla shield” and “iron curtain”..? steampunk red alert, heh…
also, any tech advancement could well be present on COG drillships as well, that would make military drillships quite a challenge to raid.
what about, there will be no absorbtion settings, but it would be in the levels integrated, T1 shield, one segment on ceiling, 1/3 absorbtion, some speed for regeneration; T2 shield, 2 segments, 2/3 absorbtion, faster speed for regeneration, etc.
Very good idea. An energy shield sounds awesome
it could have a visable indication that its on like the sheld is shiny
