Human Drillship Crews - Adding on to a merged post idea#727

Sorry for adding to multuple ideas into one suggestion on a previous post, I decided to make an extra post for an idea had because a moderator said it made no sense and I kinda disagree. My idea was iust there are drillships that can be found the same way as cog drillships. This would be a way of adding more human npcs and a trading element to the game. These drillships have a crew composed of human npcs who are not initially hostile to the player. These would just be other survivors trying to survive on the island, and the whole purpose of them is that they can give players minor tasks/quests in exchange for materials and/or they can simply have trading npcs. The chance of them having quests or trading can be random or maybe even customized in the custom difficulty menu. I think it would be fitting because it would make sense why the few other survivors on the island want help with tasks they can’t complete easily or want to trade items they can’t obtain easily. They should become hostile and leave if attacked. While not as important as my other mentioned suggestions perhaps they could even be raided the same way cog drillships can be raided but maybe they have more armor and advanced guns than cogs. I say its not important because the main purpose of the feature would be the trading/quests but making it raidable could me a cool addition. It would be a way to add a trading system to introduce a new way for players to get materials. Tradeable items could be gears, with each metal type being a higher level of currency like DnD 5e or Terraria. For quests I think theyd primarily give ores or raw resources, maybe even certain craftable materials since you can’t usually get certain craftable items outside of crafting like bullet parts or gun parts. For the quest portion, an example of a quest could be you have to help defend the human npc drillship from a cog raid and in exchange they give you some resources. Maybe another quest could be they need certain items that would make sense for a human crew to ask for, like human necessities like meds, or harder to get items like cog heads or intel items. Quests/tasks from these npcs shouldn’t be large or too rewarding they should feel more like trades of services rather than quests. This is why I use the word task because it seems more fitting. These “tasks” should be just enough to make them worth doing and would also add more things for players too do.

Again, as I said previously this has already been suggested and you acknolwedged it yet still suggest it. Nothing prevented you from commenting under the post.
And also, this still doesn’t make any sense. There are no survivors on the island. The only humans on the island are the ones who arrived in the submarine, which is the Captain and the players. All other humans either fled the island when the eruptions began, or most likely died after some time. I don’t think anyone could have figured out COGs the way we did, and survived for several years alone (without accomplishing any objectives).

If there were survivors, this post would suddenly make sense. But since there are none…

I misunderstood your comment, you never explicitly said my second suggestion was already suggested. It appeared like you only were saying the first suggestion was already made, as it seemed you were only disregarding my suggestion because it didn’t make sense. I thought the proper process would be to make a separate post for my ideas since I had two in one poorly written suggestion post. I see how that doesn’t makes sense though, thank you for the clarification. I was simply trying to convey my ideas clearly. Sorry for the inconvenience but thank you for your time.

Most suggestions are already suggested nowadays. The search function exists for a reason, and that reamins true for all platforms. As for two posts in one, yes, these are really annoying because most of the time both ideas can be merged, but I can’t split a post.
It was not an inconvenience if in the end we can have a discussion like this - I’m glad you’re not the average troller that just starts swearing whenever someone disagrees with them.

If you want to suggest new ideas, which are always welcome, there’s a few things you can do :

  1. Make sure it’s not already suggested. There’s the search bar, the gameplay area tags…
  2. Ask yourself these questions : Why add this ? What would it bring to the gameplay ? How would it work ? How do you get it ? And include all of those in the post. Because sometimes we get suggestions that are just “Add uranium” and you’re like… ok, and ??

So yeah. I’m always open for discussion when it comes to ideas !

Yeah for some other ideas I’ve had I’ve been looking through posts and making sure the suggestions haven’t already been made before I consider posting. Thank you for helping me understand the forum better! :)
