(Repost) Interior defense system, have the game allow cogs and other players to board your drillship (which is already planned) and do something about them.#70

Get expensive upgrades/parts/panels/place ables allowing your own home defense! Four cogs get into your 3rd segment? No problem install a containment system that deploys emergency steel doors at each end of the rail car! Then if you have the correct installations go ahead and open up the gas vents and play the waiting game! Don’t wait too long though or they might break down your expensive door! Also, don’t open it! Make sure you remember to go to the surface and let it vent out first! Need a little extra firepower to come in hand when some pesky humans find their way on to your drillship without you knowing? Go ahead and install the indoor ceiling turret! It’s not accurate, or very powerful, but it’s better than being shot in the back! If you can’t find where someone’s hiding, we got you covered there too. Install emergency mode, all lights either go red or they go out, your choice. Emergency mode will also turn off your drillship allowing the use of our handy dandy heat sensor module. This will scan your ship for heat signatures and you can find that pesky stowaway! (This is a suggestion for interior defense and emergency modes, some examples have been provided in the above “advertisement”)

Interior turret is planned, but I personnally don’t quite like the other suggestions. They sound “too much” to me…
But hey, that’s just my opinion. We’ll see what other people think !

Thanks for taking the time to write this, we really appreciate the suggestions! Multiple tiers of doors are planned for safety purposes and the same goes for interior turrets. The other ideas are also interesting, I really like the lights turn red/out feature! Will see what others think

Honestly I really like the idea of “locking down” your drillship, sectioning off your drillship, and have alternative methods of defending it than just shoot stuff that are bad on your drillship. Like, I think some upgrades would be like more useful for players than cogs like the gas would kill humans, but is it more worth it to have the upgrade more effective against humans, or one more suited towards cogs. I think it would add an interesting gameplay aspect. Overall I personally like the idea.

@Rich What I meant was more of like not doors with extra health, but like emergency panels that have more health than any type of doors that can only be deployed while inside the drillship, and are also not active all the time. Think of them like fire doors that you see on spaceships in the movies and stuff. I don’t know if you understand what I’m trying to get at, but yeah. (Also sorry if you got two notficications, I forgot to log in.)

Instead of the heat sensor idea have a terminal that shows a picture of the drill ship, upper and lower floors, and has red lights on it that light up when the ship is being damaged internally, would fit better with the level of tech we have considering alarms already go off when the outside is being damaged. Also love the idea of the lights turning red when under attack as well!
