Command / focus weapons via Periscope when surfaced#644

When you have surfaced in your Drillship, your turrets will attack anything that comes into range.

My suggestion is to allow you to “focus” or direct the turrets in a specific area so you can get the drop on COG units.

When on the surface, you can use the turret to “Aim” the modules you have, and the modules will engage if they are in range - this differs from actually controlling the turrets directly as you are only marking or tagging priority areas / units, depending on the implementation.

This allows you to focus on heavy hitting artillery enemies for example as a priority, ignoring the lesser threats, or to overwatch more specifically on an area.

Right now, all the periscopes “Look” from the same spot. If you only have one Periscope device, you might not notice, especially if you only use it while underground, but when you surface and look down, it’s always at the same spot.

The reason I bring this up is because while targeting with the Periscope will work very well for Turrets at the front, range will become an issue for certain turrets at the back of the ship.

Now I don’t know if they plan to make it so the Periscope can deploy from more than one ship section… (In which case directed targeting could be tied to Periscopes by section.) or if it will always be tied in under one system because they are going to also set up the torpedos to work with the current periscope and it might get crazy having more than one actually operating…..

However, the Periscope would probably need some sort of range finder or tradgectory highlighter so that we can best coordinate the different weapons. Then again, indicating that information when you are underground would be really tricky, huh?

Turret Controls by the Player are planned, Focusing of turrets, im not sure of. At some point Player Controls over turrets will happen however so hopefully this works!
