hmm why not steam powered dog? (like Spot from Boston dynamic)? Flying drone is too hi-tech :-)

It would look weird to be honest. Drones look super cool imo, I much prefer those to a mechanical animal of any sorts.
But if you really want a robot dog, modding support is planned. Anything could happen.

Lots more animation and physics involved in an automaton dog than a flying drone (though it is a cool idea). Not keen on the drone ‘jet engine’ though, it’s too high-tech. Rotor blades would be better (or how about a hot air balloon? or flapping wings? or an airscrew like the Da Vinci helicopter? Or even Cavorite? Keep it Steampunk, people)

Drones may look cool, but they are weird in steampunk. Steampunk is technologicaly incompatible with fliing drones…

Flapping wings with steam engine is also weird combination. But balloon and rotor blades like miniature airship can be cool. But realisticaly sized balloon is to big, but we are in steampunk world, so maybe baloon “filled” with wacuum or whatewer what scale it down..

In response to people saying that floating drones are too high-tech, I would like to remind you all that the Cogs literally maintain laser devices and use laser drills in their t4 ships.
