Alloy names#469

I feel like “Alloy T1”, “Alloy T2” and “Alloy T3” are underwhelming names. I would much prefer them to have actual names, but still include their corresponding tier in their description. So I wanted to see if the alloys in the game really existed, and a bit of research lead me to this :

  • Copper and Iron alloy (T1) : There isn’t any documented alloy of only copper and iron. There are, however, two alloys that include iron and copper, with another material. One seems to fit well here, it’s called “Glucydur”. It’s an alloy of beryllium, copper and iron. The best part is that it is very resistant to heat and is quite solid. Here’s the wikipedia page : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucydur
(The other alloy of copper and iron is called “Cunife”, and is very magnetic, and can be made into very thin wires. I don’t think it’s very interesting in our case, but I’ll still give the wikipedia page : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cunife )

  • Iron and Titanium alloy (T2) : There is one, actually. It’s called “Ferrotitanium”, and is used for a lot of stuff that I didn’t really understand. Here’s the wikipedia page : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrotitanium

  • Alloy T3 (Copper, Iron and Titanium) ; I think it would be better to have a fictional name for this one. Why not “Hephaesteel”, a mix of “Hephaestus” (the greek god of Fire and Metalworking) and “Steel”.
Or “Adranosite”, in reference to the name of the island ?
(There is an alloy made from iron that includes a bit of copper and titanium, but very little ; it’s called “Alnico” I’ll give the link, but I’d still prefer a fictional name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alnico )

I think all of this would be better for immersion and overall nicer.

Building on this, As demonstrated in my Questing Mod. More Alloys, or better usages for the Alloys would make more sense. You could add entire layers of progression with them if you built them further into questing.

I also feel like just using them for a few upgrades is a waste of potential. They should have a consumable use, so that you always need to make more. An example of that is #253

Honestly I am considering redoing how they are used in the Questing Mod but I think a overhull of most of the resources would make sense. Like who is gonna make a mortar out of Copper? It’ll just explode.
