A buildable COG that you can assign tasks like, steer the ship, make coffee, act like a pack mule for all the junk you looted etc..
This has been requested a lot over at the discord server, but the devs haven’t said anything about it. I think they might add some pet/ or some other friendly NPC at some point but in this case i guess it will be really low priority.
We’ll be getting drones to do some of our mining work. More turrets for defense… And we’ll see what else we get.
As for an actual COG… I personally don’t like that idea, but we shall see what happens !
I don’t think there are plans for a NPC servant like that now. We do plan to add some friendly pet eventually as Hab mentioned and other modules such as the ^^Mining Drone to help out.

Are you referring to this because if so they barely look alike, they have a couple similarities but not enough to cause some crazy copyright claim, I’m telling you it’s not going to happen
Call of Duty has zombies. Have they ever copyrighted anyone ? Have they ever been copyrighted by anyone ? Yet I don’t think they’re the only franchise to have zombies in a game. (Dying light, for example…)
VoidTrain has a train in their game, but Railroads had trains before them. Did any of the two copyright the other ?
I think you see my point. Do you have any idea how many games out there have drones ? Simple little machines that fly ? Even I don’t. I’ve never heard of anyone copyrighting anyone else over a drone. That’s because copyrights like this never happen in the gaming industry.
Anyways, all of this to say : it’s not because the concept art here shared the smallest similarities with drones from another game that they won’t happen. Sorry.

Posting from a phone, so dates aren’t showing on any of these comments (so I don’t know how old they are), but honestly, all of the arguments I read here in favor of friendly cogs sound more like arguments for better game balance.
But if something had to be added (despite us having mining, support, and combat drone/drills that fill these roles already), I’d much rather have a little flying drone over a cog any day. I’d especially like to have one of those to automate repairs of my drillship… (though that cleary should be, and is, a different suggestion).
