Invasions COG#1609

Idea for the developers to do it to give it a touch that is more tower defense, the game has a lot of potential but I see turrets and their possibilities with these mechanics and it seems that it was quite little exploited.

They could give the game a base defense mechanic like what is happening with many survival games with a mechanic that is fashionable “random invasions”.
My idea would be to provide players with the option of being invaded by robots that could be configured, both the number of invasions and the difficulty of the invasion.

Its mechanics would be that there would be Drones explorers that would deploy and move away from your driller to go reporting and collecting data from their surroundings now well, if this Drone just discover you would shoot a flare or a radio warning thus alerting their mother base and thus sending a squad to that location whether or not you are with your digger near, the same mechanics would be repeated if a drone just discovering the location of your digger.
Now, this mechanic of the drone call could be cancelled if you destroy it in time before the warning or in stealth.
The invasions would be constant and against more time it lasts more reinforcements better prepared and formed they would end up sending, the only possibility to stop the invasion would be destroying the enemy mother excavator because that is where they would manufacture and send those reinforcements, in this way the invasion would collapse.
Now, it will seem very complex and complicated this mode that is why the option to give the player to implement this mechanics or not to the game and other variables that could be configured.
This mechanic does not need to be given to all excavators, it could be a special type of excavator adapted for this mechanic and that way there would be no invasion for each excavator in the surroundings.

What would prevent me from running away from the invasion by ordering my excavator to sink? Well, these robots would come equipped with a hack or an event that would prevent you from moving your excavator from the ground, you could only save yourself from the invasion and its hack when the volcano is not more than 2 minutes to explode in this way the invaders would retreat or destroying the enemy excavator from where they send their reinforcements

If you’re parked close enough to another drillship, they kind of already do this (I just had a play session the other day in Zone 3 on the surface where I ended up with 3 of the large flying drones, 3-4 tanks, and a bunch of infantry all coming at me at the same time).

While I’m not necessarily against this, I’m also hesitant to support it. As a solo-player, I sometimes purposely park my drillship away from the cogs where it’s less likely to be attacked for two reasons:
1) Turrets feel a bit underpowered to me. They can’t take too many hits and, despite their size, generally have shorter range and do less damage than their small arms counterparts.
2) Because of the above, if I’m raiding, I find it highly annoying to have my drillship come under constant attack, and would find it even more annoying to have to return due to a full on attack wave or the like.

The only way I’d find this mechanic enjoyable was if I could control when it can occur. Simply shooting down the drones before they report the drillship’s location isn’t enough (if the drillship could take care of itself, then you’d never get attacked. If it couldn’t, then you’d always get attacked).

Well, excuse my broken English here.
Parking your ship on top of another to search for war would feel very… artificial and the truth is that it’s not cool, I would like the mechanics to be more natural.

I am going to answer all your concerns and, in my opinion, how it would be easy to address them.

1) The turrets are easy, they could just be buffed to satisfy that mechanic.

2) As I said above, you could configure this mechanic to your liking, they would be for players who want an extra challenge, just as you can currently control the intensity of the COGs and other variables with this new mechanic you could also deactivate those Drones. , lowers the intensity of the Drones as well as their raids.

What I see about the game is that it has a lot of potential to become a good defense tower, the mechanics are really there but they don’t seem to be given much importance… I need a more convincing reason to care about my ship other than storing it for when there are rashes

Also, if instead of all ships having scout drones only one type of specialized ship had them as I said above, it would be easier to board and avoid the presence of the drones. They would not always appear and if they did, look at where ships could appear in the surrounding area and if you want to avoid friction you could leave that location to move to a quieter place. I can also think of other methods to prevent Drones from locating your ship’s location and I think one of them would be to place drone turrets in strategic positions but… I think this would be very complicated but it would be fun to see. how you can eat the head or a new drone variant for this type of conflict

Yes, the points I raised can be solved, but that was my point. They need to solved before such a thing would be viable (to me).

As for the ways you mentioned to avoid the drones spotting you, this sounds more like a chore than a fun mechanic.
