Dynamic Map#1145

somethign that could be fun to play with is each eruption have some lava flows that might appear and craveses that open up. maybe even random times lave gysers that can just erupt out of the ground to give more hazzards.

above ground unpassible lava rivers, sink holes randomly open and close between eruptions. gyseres both lava and steam that can harm players.make them invisable or just under the ground mesh when not in use and the rivers and holes could have a “ cover plane “ that hides the new ground work that will just despawn when they are open. the system would be like the ore gen but a hazared that is random.

underground the lava temps can rise and lower making navigation diffrent each cycle. have new rocks slide in and out blocking common passage ways. they could spawn just like the items we see underground.

This kind of falls under the “procedural map” or “multiple map” ideas. Although this one seems slightly more feasible, technically speaking.
But I’m not sure actually modifying the land with each eruption is actually a good idea, players might feel lost and might not understand the mechanic. Having some routes players get used to suddenly blocked off because of RNG and totally out of the players’ control doesn’t really sound good.

What I think would be better is some hazards/map modifications in function of the eruption timer. For example, a hot lava pool that is unpassable cools down after a while, and becomes a shortcut or just opens a new passage. This is much more controllable, and is consistent each time. Players can get used to it, and make plans taking it into consideration, using it to their advantage. We can imagine a lot of things this way, lava rivers, maybe a lavafall that blocks the entrance to a small cavern or whatever… More places in the map would open up (or maybe close off) the more time passes, resetting and restarting with each eruption.

Predictable behaviour is usually better received than RNG with no possible player influence.

There is next to no RNG and the game in its current state becomes extremely stagnate in my own opinion the zone change could be an optional thing and is defult no on easy and the multiples are increased on difficulty and being extremely unpredictable in the night mare mode. Could even have some mines that fill with lava that needs to be cleared out after cooling ( next eruption )

There’s quite a lot of RNG already, from ship spawns, loot, etc.
A feature this big would be hard to put as an option, I feel like. Its severity would make sense as a difficulty setting, though.
