Drilship sound#1108

The mighty drillship, what’s not to love about it other than its unusually quiet while moving other than the engine noise

would be nice to hear rattling of the tracks as the drillship moves along with general rattling of other things such as modules
maybe along with the occasional thud when the drillship goes over something a bit too hard

(can be disabled in settings if the player finds the noises annoying)

I would be happy to just kill the reving up and down each time you click when moving

Keep an “idle” sound of an engine in the background? Manually toggling engine would be good. You can’t move until you fire up the engine.

Wouldn’t really say that since

1 thats an extra complications when trying to leave

2 i think the engine is steam powered so i dont understand the sound

3 if the power supply is off then no ship system should be able to work

Well, there is diference between “generator” and “engine”. After all, we DO hear engine start and stop, don’t we? Or that the coal is being burned periodically to power different systems, apart from drill and tracks?

The engine is steam. I would assume that the electrical power for the drillship comes from a dynamo similar to the one on a steam locomotive.

Also, yes, tank track rattle would be nice. Along with other sounds like a dynamo’s whir, airbrakes when stopping…

The drillship is essentially a cross between a steam-powered train and a treaded drilling vehicle. It makes sense that it should have most of the same sounds as a train and a bulldozer.

Heh, it kinda reminds me of Magma Mole from the cartoon “Mobile Armored Strike Kommand” only powered by steam.
