Optional quests#104

I think there should be a new Tab in the quest section, which would be “Optional quests”. They would teach the player some things that are not required to finish the game, but can help.

For example, the “Faster production” quest, that tells the player to build another production module, and explains that this makes production faster, could be an optional quest. It’s not needed to progress, but can help.
I suggest a few other quests that teach the player how Lights work, how Hubs work, etc.
A few optional quests for example :

  • “Blast shelters” : Available from the beginning, this quest tells the player that Blast shelters exist (Captain remembers that blast shelters were built in the villages, and remembers about mines). The player would be required to discover one mine and enter it, and discover one blast shelter in a village, and enter it. Then, players will know that there are mines in each area, that all villages have a blast shelter, that they can enter it by breaking the doors, that there’s loot inside it, and they can be used as protection from the eruptions. Because as of now, players have no indication of this, except the archive, but sadly very few people read the archive…

  • “Lighting” : Triggered by the installation of a new segment, this quest tells the player to craft a few lights, and explains that they can be placed on the ceiling, above doors, on the outside of the ship and basically anywhere else. (I see almost all youtubers having their ship really dark, most likely because they actually don’t know about lights at all.)

  • “Automatic production” : Triggered by installing T2 production, this quest explains to the player how to use Hubs. The few youtubers that bothered checking out the Hubs didn’t understand how they work, so the quest could tell the player to automate production of basic copper components (5 or 10 of each), and automatic production of grenades as well, explaining how the threshold modes work, how the infinite mode works, etc. So the players realize how useful Hubs are.

Even if the “Optional quests” tab is not created, these quests could be added to the main quest line, because players don’t know about all the features that the game offers. And if these quests are not added… There has to be a way to teach players about optional features, because most people don’t readthe archive…

“Scoped in” this could be an optional quest that becomes available once you obtain the sniper. The quest would require you to head shot 3-5 cogs from a far distance. This quest would help people practice the sniper and see how bullet drop works.
